What is Knowledge Transfer
and why is it important?

"Knowledge Transfer" is the process of passing on knowledge, skills, or information from one person or group to another. It helps ensure valuable information is shared and used effectively, especially when someone new joins a team or when an experienced person leaves.

This website includes some resources to assist employees with tracking and transferring knowledge. Because each position is different, not all knowledge transfer practices will be the same. Additionally, Knowledge Transfer should be constantly happening within the organization, and NOT done right before an employee is leaving. Make this a routine process! Departments should work together to standardize the knowledge transfer process or procedures that best meet their needs.

Knowledge Transfer Toolkit

The Knowledge Transfer Toolkit below includes a thorough guide that covers how to transfer knowledge, track progress, and evaluate a current knowledge transfer process. Personnel also listed some simple tools available in Google for you to use during knowledge transfer as well. Be sure to download and share these great resources with your employees!
