Mechanical Repairers at the Los Angeles Zoo are part of a multi-trade team responsible for the maintenance, repair, alteration, and some construction of animal exhibits and facility buildings. Located in Griffith Park, this 133-acre facility provides a distinctive outdoor work environment and opportunities to collaborate with team members to develop customized solutions and fabrications.

Mechanical Repairers perform diverse tasks related to the upkeep and repair of mechanical tools and equipment. Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, maintaining:

• Sewer lift station pumps and related hardware;
• Exhibit pool pumping systems and electric gates;
• Winch, pulley, and gear-driven door systems;
• Compressors, vacuum pumps, and small motors;
• Various hydraulic systems and doors;
• The Conservation Carousel
• Other assigned mechanical duties.
