The Department of General Services is looking for a self-motivated and detail-oriented Student Professional Worker (SPW) to assist in the Management Information Services (MIS) Division.
Work Schedule: Intermittent employees are employees assigned to a regular or on-call work schedule of less than half of the available working time (less than 1,040 hours) in any service year. Work hours would be based on the operational needs of this Division on an as-needed basis. Minimum of two days per week in the office; flexible hours and days based on the employee's school schedule.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Student Professional Worker performs administrative and clerical work, downloads and processes monthly telephone billing, processes purchase orders and other FMS documents in the City's Financial Management System (FMS), orders office supplies and equipment, edits and formats Microsoft Word documents, enters data, organizes and updates files for record retention and other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. Student Professional Workers work independently, with a supervisor, or on a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited four-year college or university, with completion of the Sophomore year. A declared major in Business is preferable.
2. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Internet navigation.
3. A valid California driver's license may be required.
Physical Requirements: Average lifting up to 35 pounds.
