The Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) has an exempt employment opportunity for an Independent Assessor. The Independent Assessor is responsible for planning, assigning, organizing and provides oversight of the LAFD’s internal disciplinary process for sworn and civilian employees, civil litigation, and directs annual audits. The incumbent conducts comprehensive procedural and operational audits of the LAFD’s administrative and Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) investigations and application of discipline for civilian and sworn employees. The Independent Assessor handles special auditing and administrative review of assignments at the Commissions direction. The selected candidate will assist the Board of Fire Commission (BOFC) in providing civilian oversight by monitoring the disciplinary process in the LAFD and to ensure investigations are conducted in a thorough, fair, and effective manner.
WORK SCHEDULE
The Los Angeles City Fire Department offers 5/40 and 9/80 work schedules and has implemented a hybrid telecommuting program which allows some classifications a minimum of two (2) in-office work days per week, and on the remaining workdays, employees may telecommute, provided that the employee has passed their probationary period. The specific in-office days are flexible and will be coordinated with Executive Management. The hybrid telecommuting program is subject to change.
