LA Civil Rights is focused on reducing bias and injustices through equity, policy, and programming. In addition, LA Civil Rights manages all aspects of its civil rights enforcement. This includes supporting the Commission on Civil Rights in implementing administrative rules and issuing subpoenas, as well as managing requests for administrative hearings and appeals.
Responsibilities: Hearing Examiners
conduct administrative hearings where a respondent is challenging a Notice of Violation of the Los Angeles Civil and Human Rights Law. A Hearing Officer presides over hearings,
rules on motions and objections, administers oaths to witnesses, rules on the
admissibility of testimony and proposed exhibits, determines whether due
process requirements have been met, evaluates the credibility of witnesses, and
issues a written administrative ruling stating factual findings and conclusions
based on the hearing record. For more information about the City’s Civil
and Human Rights Law, click here.
Hearing Examiners will

final report.
