The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Information Technology Services Division is filling two (2) Systems Analyst II positions. The positions will be located at JFB, 111 N. Hope St., Room 715, Los Angeles, CA 90012. The available hours is 5/40 or 9/80 with a start time between 6:30am to 8:00am. The duties of the position includes, but are not limited, to the following: 


Interfaces and coordinates with Customer Services Division (CSD) Business Functional areas Subject Matter Experts (SME) to identify, analyze, and test new operating systems, web browsers, standard applications, software packages, security patches, and various hardware equipment to ensure CSD's business applications (non-standard software) are compatible with new technology.
Identifies IT related issues affecting operations and work with IT to resolve them.
Determine possible impacts of new technology releases on operations and develop test plans.
Collaborate with ITS to prepare, plan and coordinate testing with Business Functional areas, determine operational impacts of software upgrades, security patches, Cyber security mandates.
Develop backup plans and temporary workarounds when necessary.
Maintains and Supports Qmatic solution for CSD Customer Service Centers and other CSD non-standard software equipment
Attends off-site as well as in-house training classes and seminars to develop and maintain skills and knowledge pertinent to Customer Information Systems, interfaces, and non-standard software applications.
Identifies and analyzes requirements for non-standard software requests to ensure if requirements can be met by standard enterprise solutions.
Prepares and maintains support documentation for CSD non-standard software applications.
May be required to report to other locations to perform regular duties .
Other related duties as assigned .

A valid California Driver's License is required and must be maintained during the course of employment. Overtime maybe provided on evenings, weekends, and holidays for scheduled maintenance as well as emergency call outs and disturbance calls. 

CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED FOR THE FOLLOWING WORK RELATED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS BY INTERVIEW OR OTHER MEANS, AS SPECIFIED: 

Knowledge of the various CSD applications, systems, interfaces, network, hardware, and software.
Knowledge of best practice methodologies for developing, designing, supporting, testing, and implementing application updates for the various CSD applications.
Strong system analysis and problem-solving skills with a proven ability to develop technical and business solutions.
Understanding of project management principles .
Ability to use independent judgment, make sound decisions, and demonstrate initiative.
Knowledge of Department policies and procedures as contained in the Administrative Manual and Working Rules, as well as other related to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), safety, and discipline policies, procedures and practices.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing .
