OVERVIEW

The Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is accepting applications to fill two (2) Project Coordinator positions: one (1) in the Special Projects Section of the Workforce Development Division and one (1) in the Rapid Response - Employer Services Section of the Workforce Development Division. The position is as follows:

RAPID RESPONSE - EMPLOYER SERVICES (1 POSITION)

The Project Coordinator under the Special Projects Section supports critical program management and implementation in support of the Rapid Response and Employer Services Unit, including sector strategies, and other projects as assigned. The Unit supports the Department's efforts to address the City’s workforce needs as noted in the EWDD’s Workforce Development Annual Plan, while also supporting the department’s adherence to federal, state, and local guidelines, ensuring that regulatory requirements are consistently met. Staff under the Rapid Response-Employer Services Unit are responsible for delivery of resources and rapid reemployment for dislocated workforce and for coordinating employer engagement and services that not only contributes to workforce solutions for small businesses to large corporations and to the success of the implementation of grant-funded workforce programs to assist individuals gain long-term employment. This work includes, but is not limited to, completing required reporting, facilitating training, and attending community events. 

SPECIAL PROJECTS SECTION (1 POSITION)

The Project Coordinator under the Special Projects Section supports critical program management and implementation in support of the Los Angeles Regional Initiative for Social Enterprise (LA:RISE) program, including the Youth Academy, and other special projects, as assigned. The Unit supports the Department's efforts to address the City’s workforce needs as noted in the EWDD’s Workforce Development Annual Plan, while also supporting the department’s adherence to federal, state, and local guidelines, ensuring that regulatory requirements are consistently met. Staff under the LA:RISE program are responsible for coordinating homeless project services and providing technical support to multiple contracted service providers. For other special projects, staff are responsible for the implementation of grant-funded workforce programs to assist individuals gain long-term employment. This work includes, but is not limited to, completing required reporting, facilitating training, and attending community events. 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized and accredited four-year college or university in any social science program such as economics, statistics, or ethnic studies.
  • At least one (1) year of full-time relevant, paid professional experience performing duties including, but not limited to, analyzing budgets, contract monitoring, fiscal and program monitoring for compliance with the provisions of grants or other funding sources.
  • Experience in managing workforce development, employment training and employer programs, and grant-funded initiatives, including Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act funded programs and services.  
  • Experience in developing collaborative community initiatives with public, private and community based organizations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A valid California driver’s license and a good driving record.

SELECTION PROCESS

A screening process may be applied to determine a reasonable number of candidates with the most relevant background and experience to interview. Only the most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in the interview process for further evaluation. As a part of the selection process, present and former supervisors may be contacted and a review of personnel folders may be conducted. A performance exercise may also be given.
