OVERVIEW

The Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is accepting applications to fill one (1) Senior Project Coordinator position. The position is assigned to support programs in the Economic Development Division with the Market Investments and Innovation Unit.

This position will be responsible for conducting outreach and marketing business incentives in targeted areas of the City of Los Angeles. The duties and responsibilities of this position also include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing complex economic development projects, which includes developing and managing partnerships with internal City and external stakeholders.
  • Analyzing potential targeted business incentive areas and recommending packages of incentives based on current business populations and other stated goals for those areas.
  • Periodically reviewing the effectiveness of business incentive programs and making recommendations for adjustments, enhancements, etc.
  • Assisting with conducting research for grant writing and proposals, as well as economic policy analyses.
  • Organizing community meetings and conducting meetings with representatives from the business community to facilitate input on draft program guidelines
  • Marketing business incentives to targeted business located in incentive areas, and tracking successful access to incentives and their impact on businesses in incentive areas.
  • Responding to Los Angeles City Council motions and instructions for economic development activities, and coordinating with Council staff to resolve issues and adjust available incentives as needed.

The primary work location for this position is 444 Flower Street, Suite 14th Floor, Los Angeles, CA, 90071 and the department is currently working a hybrid schedule.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized and accredited four-year college or university; and a minimum of 2-years full-time, paid experience performing professional work related to business services or business development which includes marketing, planning and conducting outreach, project management, contract negotiations, and consulting.
  2. Experience working directly with business owners or representatives of the business community. Focus is on experience advocating for the interests of the business community, or experience that demonstrates insight into business incentive needs.
  3. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  4. Possession of a valid California Class “C” driver’s license and a good driving record are required at the time of application. Applicants must meet all minimum eligibility requirements in order to apply.
 Note: For qualifying work experience gained outside of the City of Los Angeles, the term “professional experience” means work experience in a full-time position that requires the possession of a four-year degree from a recognized college or university in order to obtain that position. Therefore, to be considered “professional”, non-City qualifying experience must be gained in positions held after obtaining a four-year degree.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The preferred candidate will demonstrate a high level of professional experience in the following:

  • Private sector business outreach, education, support, and liaison activities.
  • Ability to make concise, logical, and persuasive oral and written presentations.
  • Experience in identifying and providing solutions to the needs of business communities.
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • A strong working knowledge of City of Los Angeles Departments and their functions.
