RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
  • Conduct risk assessments for routine contracts and develop contract insurance requirements. Maintain risk activity in eRSP system.
  • Attend contract negotiations as necessary.
  • Assist with coordinating the Evidence of Insurance program to ensure compliance with contract insurance requirements.
  • Assist clerical staff in processing evidence of insurance, as needed.
  • Assist with claim investigations for property and casualty losses.
  • Evaluate existing insurance coverage/policy provisions for claim recovery.
  • Assist operating divisions with claim preparation.
  • Assist with loss control inspections for property and casualty programs as assigned.
  • Administer insurance premium allocation methodologies as directed.
  • Prepare Board packages for insurance policy renewal authorizations and Request for Proposal submissions.
  • Prepare and collect underwriting data for all insurance policy procurements including statement of values (property), loss history (casualty, property, workers’ comp), and renewal applications.
  • Assist Supply Chain Services in presenting vendor insurance requirements.
  • Conduct Financial Natural Gas Hedging Front Desk operations.
  • Assist other Section staff with special projects and other duties as assigned.
CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED FROM THE FOLLOWING WORK-RELATED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE,
ABILITY AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS BY INTERVIEW OR OTHER MEANS, AS SPECIFIED:
  • Knowledge in Risk Assessment/Insurance coverage
  • Knowledge of LADWP operations.
  • Knowledge of database structures.
  • Ability to use Excel spreadsheet, database, and Word processing software.
  • Knowledge of City of Los Angeles and LADWP policies, including EEO.
  • Knowledge of LADWP safety rules and policies.
  • Ability to manage projects and report results to management.
  • Ability to coordinate work activities with other organizations.
  • Ability to proactively identify critical issues and propose solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals and organizations, including internal
  • Department support services, executive management, and the Board of Commissioners.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
