Minimum Experience Requirements
This position is open to all Architectural Associate IIs currently employed by the City of Los
Angeles. The minimum experience requirement is the following:
1. At least one (1) year of full-time paid professional architectural experience with the City
of Los Angeles at the level of an Architectural Associate II.
Summary of Duties
The Architectural Associate II position is assigned to the Architectural Division’s Design and
Production Section. The incumbent will be responsible in assisting and preparing feasibility
studies, design, construction documents specification and cost estimates and in managing
private consultants to ensure they meet City standards. The incumbent will be responsible for
assisting in the administration of design consultant contracts, including contract
administration. The incumbent will assist in reviewing, analyzing and preparing
recommendations for all bid documents and specification for design-build projects during Bid
and Award phase. The incumbent will also assist in responding to Request for Information.
The incumbent will assist in job site meetings with involved departments, project consultants,
general contractors, service providers and respective council offices regarding plan review,
scheduling, construction changes and related matters.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
The Bureau of Engineering (BOE) is looking for candidates who possess the following skills,
knowledge, and abilities, including but not limited to:
• Good skills in verbal communications;
• Excellent skill in written communication preparing technical reports and
correspondences;
• Excellent skills in optimizing systems and procedures;
• Excellent skills in organizing project management activities and ability to analyze and
resolve construction disputes;
• Knowledge of BOE programs, regulations, policies and procedures;
• Familiarity of zoning and building code;
• Excellent knowledge of City Standards;
• Knowledge of BOE Project Delivery Manual and procedures;
• Ability to work well with people at all levels of the organization and partnering agencies;
• Ability to analyze complex problems; identify relevant issues; and formulate reasonable
and effective solutions;
• Beginners or intermediate proficiency in Revit is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently.
