The Office of Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez is seeking a thoughtful, hard-working, and compassionate team member to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment as a Communications Intern.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to racial and economic justice, some experience with social media/communications, and a strong understanding of the diverse communities and neighborhoods within CD 13.
Starting at 20 hours/week and $25/hour.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Digital
Update website copy/structure/design
Post newsletter weekly on website
Send out weekly comms debriefs with clips, comms updates, and metrics.
Translate content from English to Spanish
Social Media
Design graphics/images for social media
Draft social media posts in both English and Spanish
Assist communications team with miscellaneous social media projects
Constituent Services
Respond to inquiries from constituents via social media
Manage the office’s mail correspondence system that we use to alert constituents about changes in their community, with assistance from the communications team
Assist communications, field, and admin teams with certificate and presentation requests
The ideal candidate should have experience in the following
Strong graphic design skills.
Exceptional written, verbal, and visual communication skills in both Spanish and English.
Strong attention to detail.
A capacity for hard work, and a willingness to collaborate with others.
Enthusiasm for and some familiarity with local politics and municipal policy.
Experience in project management, graphic design, or other communications-related fields is a plus.
