These two Systems Administrator I position’s will be assigned to the Endpoint Management and Technology (EMT) group. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to the following:
Provide assistance to the EMT supervisor in leading technical initiatives assigned to the EMT group. Responsible for various EMT tasks including testing, development, rollout coordination, and troubleshooting operating system and third-party software security patches and updates; installing new versions of enterprise core software and enterprise licensed software; identifying root causes of hardware and software problems. Assisting in the implementation of group policies and/or script automation, and creating various Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM, formally SCCM) packages for software distribution. Creating virtualized application/software packages as well as administer and support the privileged account management software and assist the Deployment team in establishing standardized device images.
This position will also assist in administering the Microsoft and Adobe Enterprise Agreements, and all other software being administered and supported by the Service Desk such as Blue Zone, Powerbroker, Solar Wind Dameware, Veritas, etc.; maintaining software licensing compliance, inventory all software installed on all desktops and create software inventory reports. Evaluating, testing, and recommending new technology to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of Department operations; assisting the Software and Hardware Standards Committee Chairperson in establishing software and hardware standards; producing technical documentation. Other related duties, such as time recording, attending meetings, preparing status reports, and other administrative duties. Managing projects utilizing project management tools, techniques, and best practices. Developing project plans and implementing new projects for the Service Desk. Providing technical training and act as the technical resource to all Service Desk staff.
Overtime and some travel may be required. A valid California Driver’s License is required and must be maintained during the course of employment.
Candidates will be evaluated for the following work-related skills, knowledge, abilities and other qualifications by interview or other means, as specified:
- Knowledge and experience in testing, supporting, and configuring various operating systems and web browsers.
- Knowledge and experience in resolving software incompatibility issues, software upgrade and rollouts.
- Knowledge and experience in project management and developing reports.
- Knowledge and experience in planning and designing Windows and VMWare computing environment which includes understanding of various hardware, software, storage, and network inter-dependencies.
- Experience in managing Windows servers, performance tuning, and security patching.
- Knowledge and experience in installation, configuration, deployment, procurement and troubleshooting PC hardware and software.
- Knowledge of ITIL with a focus on Incident, Problem, Change and Release Management
- Oral and written communication skills
- Customer service and interpersonal skills
