The duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Performs complex clerical work of a responsible nature requiring frequent exercise
of independent judgment. Responsible for: accurate entry/coding; processing of
daily timekeeping data, documents, PANs; and verification of accuracy of time and
overtime entries/comments reported by Water Distribution staff. Timekeeping duties
for various work schedules that may include but are not limited to 5/40, 9/80 and
continuous shift for up to 100 employees. Research & correct timekeeping
errors: prepares, types, processes and maintains files of various documents
pertaining to timekeeping and personnel, which involves various types of temporary
assignments, leave of absence, and time roll correction authorities; prepares
timekeeping reports; performs duties with high level of confidentiality; ensures timely payroll closing, and completed reporting of time, each pay period. Interfaces and provides high level of customer service to internal and external customers. May be assigned other work within the Section for cross-training purposes and to meet
operating needs; relieves co-workers in their absence; works as a team to
accomplish assignments and projects; handles mail pick up and distribution of
reports; and performs other related duties.
May provide support to Water Distribution District management and field personnel. Responsibilities of district clerical personnel include but are not limited to: Timekeeping duties, which will consist of gathering, evaluating, coding, and
verifying accuracy of daily time for approximately 100 employees, including odd-shift and those subject to callout; providing varied miscellaneous support for district
personnel. Through cross training, staff may be tasked with training other employees, and providing relief on other desks based upon operating needs.
Skills, Knowledge and Ability:
• Knowledge of LADWP policies and procedures, Working Rules, MOUs, Civil
Service Rules, and general office practices regarding timekeeping, personnel, and
record-keeping procedures.
• Ability to exercise independent judgment and work independently with minimal
supervision.
• Ability to organize, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly, tactfully, and effectively with outside agencies and
Department personnel.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, WMIS, CIS, RCAS, ERespond,
CCB, and MWM is desired.
A valid California Class C Driver’s License is required and must be maintained
during the course of employment.
