BACKGROUND

The Los Angeles City Fire Department has a transfer opportunity for one (1) Senior Administrative Clerk. The Senior Administrative Clerk position will be assigned to the Department's Equity and Human Resources Bureau/Human Resources Division/Personnel Services Section/Records Unit.


WORK SCHEDULE

The Fire Personnel Services Section offers 5/40, 9/80, and 4/10 work schedules. The Fire Department has implemented a hybrid telecommuting program. The hybrid telecommuting program is subject to change.


RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Personnel Records Supervisor, the Records Unit Senior Administrative Clerk performs the following duties:

  • Process transactions in the new Human Resources and Payroll system, Workday, which includes, but not limited to, job changes (transfers, promotions, paygrade advancements, etc.), compensation changes, assigning work schedules, and resignations/terminations.
  • Creating Half Slips for promotions, transfers, resignations, and service retirements.
  • Maintain all Fire sworn and civilian personnel folders.
  • Collaborate with payroll regarding employee's retro payments, work schedules, etc.
  • Verify employment via telephone, email, and fax.
  • Issue new and replacement City identification key cards to employees and contractors, while maintaining a key card database.
  • Miscellaneous duties include, but are not limited to: assist front counter by answering questions relating to employment, pay/bonuses, collect retired sworn employee's items (badge, belt buckles, insignias, and I.D. card). Typing, filing, copying, records retention, uploading files/documents into Workday, and other related duties.
