LOCATION: City of Los Angeles – General Services Department, Standards Division

SALARY: $67,066.56 – $98,052.48 Annually, not including bonuses

REQUIREMENT(S)/MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):

1.     Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and

2.     Possession of a valid California driver’s license (Candidates may not be eligible for appointment to this position if their record within the last 36 months reflects three or more moving violations and/or at-fault accidents, or a conviction of a major moving violation such as DUI); and

3.     Current ASNT certification of at least Level II in both Ultrasonic Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing (Candidates must provide a copy of their current ASNT certificates for Ultrasonic Testing and Magnetic Particle Testing).


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

·       Perform materials testing in the field or laboratory as determined by operational need, such as but not limited to sampling and testing of asphalt, concrete, soils, steel, and related materials in accordance with established standardized methods (AASHTO, ASTM, Caltrans, ACI, etc.) to support the City’s Pavement Preservation Program, Sewer Rehabilitation Program, and LAWA construction and maintenance. Technicians will receive training for the sampling and testing methods to be performed.

·       Provide Non-Destructive Testing services (Ultrasonic Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, and Dye Penetrant Testing) for City construction projects, as requested by City agencies such as Los Angeles World Airports, Bureau of Contract Administration, and others.

·       Submit findings in oral or written reports and takes corrective actions when required in routine cases


WORK SCHEDULE:

5/40, 6:30am-3:00pm, Monday – Friday. Employees may be required to work overtime, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
