The Board of Public Works (BPW) is seeking to fill the Director of the Office of the Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion Project (LACCEP) with either a Senior Management Analyst (SMA) I (Code 9171-1) (paygrade advancement) or Senior Management Analyst II (Code 9171-2) (lateral transfer) who will serve as the Director of the LACCEP.
The position will report to the Executive Officer of the BPW and present at Convention Center Expansion project meetings which will likely require two to five in-office days per week, depending on operational needs. The position will track LACCEP expenses and staffing and work with the Office of the City Administrative Officer (CAO) to prepare and effectuate salary transfers and provide staffing updates.
The SMA II will be the Department of Public Works' administrative lead staff for this $2 Billion project, working collaboratively with the City team that includes: the CAO and the Chief Legislative Analyst (CLA); the office of the City Attorney; the City Tourism Department; Building and Safety Department; City Planning Department; Los Angeles Fire Department; Los Angeles Department of Water and Power; other Bureaus in the Department of Public Works; and other City departments as required by the Project.
As the Department of Public Works' administrative lead on the proposed Project, the SMA II will also work closely with a technical consultant team, and with the City's development partner, AEG Plenary Convention Los Angeles (APCLA). In addition, the SMA II will work as a liaison between architecture firm Populous, the contractor PCL/Webcor Joint Venture and the Board of Public Works Executive Team.
The SMA II will also work with the Office of Accounting to troubleshoot and resolve invoice delays, and monitor and communicate that status of payments within the City working group, as well as make regular presentations to the Board of Public Works. The SMA II will supervise one Management Analyst and one
Administrative Clerk.
Minimum Requirements:
1. Full-time civil service status in the class of Senior Management Analyst.
2. Two years experience in project management.
3. Two years professional experience in administrative, financial, grants or legislative work.
