Under the direction and guidance of a full-time LACERS staff, the Administrative Intern performs various duties relating to the administration of retirement benefits, including:
•Conduct research on the practices of other public pension systems; Prepare survey questions, conduct information gathering; compile data in a report;
•Document processes, write instruction guides, compile procedures;
•Gain familiarity with various resource documents used by LACERS. Catalog and summarize resource documents;
•Processing files and documents;
•Reviewing, and compiling, tabulating of various data into graphs, tables, and diagrams
•Using data to create monthly statistical reports and analysis of retirement benefits
•Perform work through the use of a variety of software and computer systems
•Prepare correspondence and other written materials;
•Provide as-needed clerical support to Departmental staff, such as, photocopy, scan, prepare documents for scanning, printing member documents, respond to requests for information, filing and file retrieval, and deliveries
•Coordinate various aspects of Member events
•Provide excellent customer service while responding to questions from Members, their authorized representatives, or their beneficiaries, regarding issues pertaining to general retirement benefits via person-to-person interaction, telephone calls, and/or emails
•Read and adhere to written procedures and following verbal instructions
•Schedule appointments
•Other duties as needed or as assigned

•Maintain confidentiality;
•Effective listening skills to understand and follow instructions willingly;
•Strong computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Access and the ability to learn new computer systems
•The ability to operate standard office equipment (i.e., copiers, fax machines, etc.).
•Must be able to provide proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States
*Some positions may require proof of clean driving records, Drivers License, and Insurance.
