Fire and Police Pensions is seeking an Internal Auditor II for its Internal Audit Section. Duties are as follows: Conduct compliance, operational, and performance audits of the Department’s operations in accordance with professional auditing standards. Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, perform research, assess internal controls, and interview relevant personnel. Develop appropriate procedures to meet audit/project objectives and establish and meet reasonable time estimates. Collect, compile, analyze and interpret data using data analytics techniques. Identify problems and solutions. Prepare audit workpapers that adequately support the work performed and audit conclusions. Prepare initial draft reports and present audit results and recommendations to management and the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners. Assist with risk assessment and special projects, including preparation for external peer reviews.
Only the most qualified individuals will be invited to participate in the final phase of the selection process, which will include a short written exercise and a Zoom interview with a panel of Department Managers who will evaluate each applicant based on responses to a series of questions. A review of the candidate’s work history, personnel file, attendance record, and consultation with current supervisor will also be completed as part of the selection process. A background check and reference check will also be conducted
The Los Angeles Fire and Police Pensions Department is a fast-paced work environment, offering a 5/40 or 9/80 schedule, free employee parking, and a college tuition reimbursement program.
Currently, the Department has implemented a hybrid telecommuting schedule that allows for a minimum of two (2) in-office work days per week, and on the remaining days, employees may telecommute. The specific in-office days will be scheduled by the Section Manager and will be coordinated with Division Management. This hybrid schedule is subject to change.
