RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:
While training for the position, the selected candidate will be required to report into the office daily for up to two months. After the training period, telecommuting will be offered, while satisfying the two onsite reporting days currently required by the Department.
• Perform a variety of technical and administrative duties in support of payroll and timekeeping using Workday system.
• Respond to inquiries from timekeepers regarding timekeeping rules, time entry codes, MOUs, and timekeeping policies on a timely manner to meet payroll closing deadlines.
• Assist timekeepers in resolving 80-hour variances and correcting timekeeping postings to ensure payroll is closed accurately and on schedule.
• Review, manage, and process Workday request framework time entry and absence retro Time Roll Correction Authority’s (TRCAs) to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance with timekeeping policy.
• Perform Time Entry audits and support payroll audit activities to ensure proper documentation, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with testing new and updated business processes in Workday to support system changes and enhancements
• Review payroll reports for accuracy of timekeeping entries.
• Perform audits of employee bank hours including sick, floating holidays, and B-time hours and process bank balance overrides as needed.
• Enter, update, and maintain employee timekeeping and payroll-related data in Workday with a high degree of accuracy.
• Provide implementation support for Cost-of-Living Adjustments (COLAs), MOU Amendments, and Letters of Intent, including processing data loads as required.
• Act as a liaison between Workers’ Compensation Office and Disability Office to resolve complex timekeeping issues and compute benefit related calculations per MOUs.
• Perform complex administrative duties requiring frequent use of independent judgment within the Main Timekeeping Office (MTO).
• Prepare, process and organize files for records retention in accordance with recordkeeping requirements.
• Scan, file and maintain electronic and physical records related to payroll and timekeeping.
• Perform other related duties within the Payroll Office to meet operational needs.
• Routinely rotated within MTO to gain knowledge and training of all Department payrolls.
• Overtime may be required.
CANDIDATES WILL BE EVALUATED FOR THE FOLLOWING WORK-RELATED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND OTHER QUALIFICATIONS BY INTERVIEW OR OTHER MEANS, AS SPECIFIED:
• Knowledge and ability to use Workday and EIS (payroll systems), HRMS, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and 10-key calculator is desired, Department Working Rules, Memoranda of Understanding, Civil Service Rules and Administrative Code as it relates to Payroll and Timekeeping functions.
• Ability to interpret, apply, and explain the rules, directives, and procedures about time and pay.
• Ability to show discretion and work with confidential documents.
• Ability to communicate effectively and deal tactfully with internal and external customers and co-workers.
• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate knowledge of effective organization/priority setting to effectively meet deadlines.
• Ability to demonstrate sound independent judgement and initiative.
• Ability to work as part of a team, to be flexible and handle a variety of assignments.
• Ability to perform mathematical computations and reconcile reports and records.
• Ability to perform payroll functions of responsible nature accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines with frequent interruptions.
• Ability to work and perform data entry efficiently and accurately within payroll closings and deadlines.
