Student Worker Job Opportunity - ITA Desktop Technical & Customer Service Support Team
The City of Los Angeles’ Information Technology Agency (ITA) is seeking resumes for a Student Worker position (to be filled immediately).
This position will provide technical support to the ITA, Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and various city departments lacking their own IT teams.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Carrying out standard desktop tasks by engaging with clients directly, either in person or over the phone. Troubleshooting and analyzing technical issues related to both hardware and software products.
- Setting up and supporting email accounts on mobile devices.
- Coordinating and tracking problem resolutions with other support groups through ServiceNow (SNow).
- Relocating computer equipment as required by the department, salvaging obsolete equipment, creating and maintaining floor plans, and updating inventory in SNow.
- Imaging desktops and laptops as needed for newly purchased devices and refreshing the image for older models.
- Document user manuals and technical procedures.
- Troubleshooting network ports/issues.
- Facilitating and supporting virtual meetings.
- Be able to lift 25 pounds.
- Have a valid driver’s license for driving to remote City facilities to provide technical support and/or relocate computer equipment as needed.
General Qualifications
This position is open to undergraduate students currently enrolled at a community college or an accredited four-year college or university. The selected candidate must remain enrolled in classes to maintain their employment.

Work Schedule
Working hours are expected to fall between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Student Worker is expected to work a regular schedule of 18-20 hours per week.
The reporting location of this position is City Hall East (200 Main Street, Los Angeles, CA).
Compensation
The rate of pay is $18.33 an hour. Please note that this position is not a permanent civil service position with the City of Los Angeles. Therefore, the position is not eligible for any employee benefits.
Note: This is an exempt, at-will position. The individual appointed to this position will not accrue civil service tenure, contractual employment rights, or due process rights. The incumbent may be removed, without any finding of cause, by the hiring authority. Upon hire, selected candidate must show proof of identity and legal right to work in the United States.
