The Economic and Workforce Development Department (EWDD) is accepting applications to fill a total of (4) four Community and Administrative Support Worker III (CASW III) positions*. The CASW III position is limited to 25 hours of work per week, and will not exceed 999 hours of work per service year. 
The work location for the positions is the following:
  • Industrious Building - 444 Flower St., Los Angeles, CA 90071
*Assignments will be determined by management, and provided with job offers.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIVISION (2 POSITIONS):

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides administrative support for the EWDD CDBG, ARPA, and General Funded programs that includes, but not limited to, contract development, compliance review, processing of budgets and monitoring reports, processing of directives and information bulletins, preparing written correspondence via email and on EWDD letterhead to contractors, and clerical duties for files set up and storage of documents.
  • Assist with verifying business customers program eligibility and assisting business customers via telephone and email to comply with program requirements.
  • Assist with compiling monthly data performance reports and tracking performance metrics of the types of assistance provided, customer satisfaction, usage of business incentives, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Professional experience with various social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook for networking and promotional purposes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DIVISION (1 POSITION):

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provides front-counter customer service in the Support Services (SS) Office, which includes interfacing with EWDD employees, as well as non-EWDD personnel (e.g., delivery personnel, UPS/ FedEX, other carrier personnel, vendors, etc.); receives mail, UPS, and other deliveries; dispatches City vehicles borrowed by EWDD staff, and other tasks related to front-counter duties.
  • Assists callers who call the main SS telephone line.
  • Performs data entry into Excel reports or other formats.
  • Contacts EWDD staff, Industrious building office staff, or others, by telephone or email as appropriate, to obtain information or coordinate services provided through the SS office.
  • May be assigned to deliver and/or retrieve documents or signatures from/to various City Hall offices (e.g. City Attorney, City Clerk, Controller's Office, etc.) in a City vehicle.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Possess a valid California Driver License and a good driving record.
  • Working knowledge of Word and Excel.
  • Must be a high school graduate; some college is preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in a customer-service environment or office is preferred but not required. 
  • Experience working as an employee of a city or county government is a plus.
  • Responsible, dependable, and possess a “Can-do” attitude.
  • Excellent customer services skills and a desire to work with the public, the ability to understand and follow directions, and the ability to work under minimum supervision.
EXECUTIVE MANAGEMENT DIVISION (1 POSITION):

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Administer social media functions such as, but not limited to, scheduling social media posts, coordinating social media posts on the social media calendar, and other social media functions. 
  • Assist with administrative tasks in regards to functions of the Communications Unit that include, collecting data and coordinating information with units within the department.
  • Monitor Google Forms submissions. 
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.
Preferred qualifications:
  • This position requires effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience producing professional-looking marketing materials such as brochures and displays.
  • Able to create charts and graphics from statistical data.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working in a professional environment.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Graduation from a U.S. high school, G.E.D. or equivalent from a U.S. institution, or a California High School Proficiency Examination (CHSPE) certificate is required. A two or four year college degree from an accredited U.S. or foreign institution may be substituted for the high school requirements.
