OVERVIEW:
The Personnel Department, Administrative Services Division (ASD), Workers’ Compensation Accounting Section provides accounting assistance to the Workers’ Compensation Division, third party administrators and injured workers.
ASD Workers’ Compensation Section is seeking to fill one part-time intern position.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direction of
the Principal Accountant II and Accounting Clerks, this position will conduct basic
Accounting functions including reviewing, preparing, and processing various financial
documents and transactions using the City’s Financial Management System
(FMS4LA) and iVOS the workers’ compensation claims management system.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Make deposits, post payments, research and cancel checks, provide
status of checks and prepare “Will Call” memos.

Prepare and review documents in the Financial Management System (FMS4LA).
·
Input and approve payments and set up vendors in the iVOS system.
·
Respond to inquiries related to IRS 908 Forms and provides quarterly
reports.
·
Update data in the Third-Party Administrator’s Vendor Add Sheet.
· Assist in various special projects and other accounting duties.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Work hours are subject to discussion with the selected candidate. Flexible work schedule is available after the candidate is fully trained.
QUALIFICATIONS
Completion
of three years of education in a recognized four-year college or university is
required.
Desirable
candidates should be detail-oriented, be able to work independently, possess
good oral and written communication skills, have a strong willingness to learn
and accept feedback, possess strong interpersonal skills, and ability to
maintain strict confidentiality.
